What is TH, INC. all about?
School District HR is a complicated, politically sensitive, and often lonely leadership position. I formed TH, INC. to provide support for this challenging work. I asked myself, “what support would be helpful to me?" during my years in HR.
I understand that there are times when HR leaders need an outside ear to work through serious issues. My vision is to provide support to HR departments in large districts or Superintendents in small districts without direct executive-level HR support.
Has TH, INC. been in the trenches of K-12 HR?
Yes, for almost 15 years. If it intersects K-12 HR, I’ve been in the room or at the table. 30+ CBAs as lead negotiator with $10M+ of cost, investigations, probations, hiring, recruiting, risk management, unemployment, staffing, leadership conflicts, hearing officer, school board interactions, and all other services unique to the K-12 HR space. I bring all of this experience to your team!
How is THINC different from a standard law firm or a traditional consulting group?
I am not an attorney. I always encourage clients to consult with their own legal counsel prior to or during any work with me. You get control over the work product - what you choose to do with it is up to you.
Can you serve as our lead negotiator and sit at the bargaining table with our unions?
Not generally. I firmly believe that the best labor relation outcomes happen when two engaged parties sit across from each other and are authentic about their interests, needs, and limitations. It is not possible for an outside labor negotiator to replicate that sincerity. I prioritize providing behind-the-scenes support, including proposal design, management team training and coaching, language development, and caucus support, but my model is to empower you to meet with your union teams and strengthen that relationship. The best deals are the deals you make with your own unions.
How can you support my district while currently serving as a practicing HR Executive?
I built TH, INC. to ensure that consultants are also practitioners. Nothing is more frustrating than an “expert” telling you what to do who hasn’t done the work. I don’t promise theory without a path to implementation. I offer practical ideas and actual solutions to real problems in real time. I will build a plan together to meet your needs. I am different from many consultants - by staying current as a practicing director, I provide a real-time asset to your system.
